The Slovak Republic Starts the V4 Presidency on 1 July 2010
30 June 2010

The Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Slovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs announce that the Hungarian Presidency of the Visegrad Group (V4) ended on 30 June 2010 and Slovakia has taken over the V4 Presidency from 1 July 2010 until 30 June 2011. During the Hungarian Presidency, the four Central European countries closely cooperated and successfully implemented the 2009-2010 Presidency Program in the field of foreign, EU and sectoral policies. The Motto of the next Slovak V4 Presidency Program, which will be adopted during the official summit of the Prime Ministers of the V4 countries soon to be held in Hungary is "Efficient Visegrad--Continuity, Cohesion, Solidarity and Awareness". The main priorities of the Program of the Slovak Presidency are aimed at further strengthening of the V4 closer regional cooperation in key areas like energy security, infrastructure development, economic cooperation, social inclusion of the Roma population, as well as promotion of joint V4 events on the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of the Visegrad Group which was founded on 15 February 1991. The V4 will continue to implement its key foreign policy priorities and common goals within the European Union with particular attention to the regions of the Western Balkans and the Eastern Partnership.
