Polish President Andrzej Duda has said that he would seek to ensure a referendum is held on any changes to the constitution. "As the president of the Republic of Poland I will certainly strive to hold a referendum on changes to the constitution," he said in a radio interview. Duda announced the initiative of a constitutional referendum during this year's constitution celebrations on May 3, saying the plebiscite should take place on November 11, 2018, the 100th anniversary of Poland regaining independence. The president was by a commercial radio station if he was sure the referendum would be held on Nov. 11, 2018. "As president of the Republic of Poland, I will certainly strive for such a referendum to take place. And it has a single aim: I want my countrymen to be able to state whether they think our constitutional system needs amendments and what sort of changes they should be".
