Archaeologists excavating a neolithic village near Tiszakurt, in eastern Hungary, have discovered a timbered water well dating from 5600-5400 BC, the oldest such find so far in Europe, the head of the excavations told MTI on Friday. Peter Mali said that the wooden structure was found in good condition at the bottom of the 2.9 metre deep well, adding that the well also contained a huge amount of clay fragments, mostly broken vessels.
