Czech lawmaker investigated over brawl in parliament

January 22nd, 2021

The Prague police are investigating the Thursday incident in the Chamber of Deputies in which independent deputy Lubomir Volny physically attacked some deputies over breach of the peace, police spokesman Jan Danek told journalists on Friday. Lubomir Volny had a brawl with other lawmakers in the parliament after chairing deputy Tomas Hanzel (Social Democrats, CSSD) switched off his microphone because Volny and another lawmaker Marian Bojko were not wearing face masks. The chairman of the Chamber of Deputies, Radek Vondracek (ANO), then sent Volny out of the chamber.
