Fully 50 percent of Czechs would like the death penalty to be reintroduced in their country now, which is the lowest level of support for capital punishment since 1992 when support for the death penalty was first surveyed, the CVVM agency said on Tuesday. The latest poll, carried out in May, showed that 41 percent of Czechs were against the reintroduction of capital punishment, a record high level. Two out of ten respondents said the death penalty should definitely be brought back and three out of ten said it probably should be applied.
